4.4.1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) - Learners, specific pedagogies and strategies
Welcome to chapter 4 of the 'Inclusion' module. So far, we have covered the notion of inclusion itself, then narrowed down to specific groups of learners who benefit from such inclusion. In this chapter, we narrow the focus even further to discuss specific techniques and notions surrounding SEN pedagogy.
Goals for this section
- To develop an understanding of key pedagogies and strategies which are beneficial for use with SEN learners.
Objectives for this section
- To be able to outline key strategies which work well with SEN learners.
- To be able to identify areas of teaching practice which can be developed and enhanced to maximise engagement with SEN learners.
- To critically discuss the notion of fully or partially inclusive practice as this relates specifically to SEN learners.
