5.5 Quality Assurance Processes

Welcome to chapter 5 of the 'Best practice in teaching' module. In this chapter, we'll be discussing Quality Assurance processes in their various forms; in order to do this as clearly as possible, we have split this into 3 subsections dealing with different varieties of QA. These will address Ofsted, Internal/External verification and the relatively new 'Progress 8' scheme.

Goals for this section

  • To understand the different forms of Quality Assurance and the reasons why such processes are implemented.

Objectives for this section

  • To be able to describe different forms of Quality Assurance.
  • To articulate the reasons why Quality Assurance processes are implemented and identify the benefits for learners, teachers and institutions.
  • To critically analyse different Quality Assurance processes and be able to identify any potential limitations of each process which may impede its goals.
